Tödliche Angst

Paris. Der Schriftsteller Lino Ventura (Bastien Grimaldi) wird auf der Straße attackiert, bevor er seine Bekannte Élizabeth Bourgine (Laura), eine Musikerin, für einen Auftritt in Montreal zum Flughafen bringt. Auch auf der Rückfahrt wird Ventura von Auto zu Auto bedrängt. Die Angriffe gehen weiter, sein Auto geht in der Garage in Flammen auf. Erpresser forden 1 Million – basierend auf dem Vermögen seiner Mutter in Bildern prominenter Maler, von denen Ventura nichts weiß. Hinter der Erpressung steckt ein Freund von Bourgine, den Ventura in Berlin stellt, als Bourgine dort einen Auftritt hat.

Ein sehr diffuses Script, das zu kaum etwas anderem gut ist, als Ventura in seinem letzten Hauptpart herzuzeigen. Man schaut dem Treiben auf weite Strecken mit ungeduldiger Verständnislosigkeit zu…

Paris. Writer Lino Ventura (Bastien Grimaldi) is attacked on the street before taking his friend Élizabeth Bourgine (Laura), a musician, to the airport for a gig in Montreal. On the way back, Ventura is harassed from car to car. The attacks continue, and his car bursts into flames in the garage. Blackmailers demand 1 million – based on his mother’s fortune in paintings by prominent artists, of which Ventura knows nothing. Behind the blackmail is a friend of Bourgine’s, whom Ventura confronts in Berlin when Bourgine has a performance there.

A very diffuse script that serves little purpose other than to showcase Ventura in his last leading role. For long stretches, one watches the goings-on with impatient incomprehension…
