The Lost City – das Geheimnis der verlorenen Stadt

USA. Die Archäologenwitwe und Liebeskolportage Autorin Sandra Bullock (Loretta Sage) tourt mit ihrem Cover Model Channing Tatum (Alan) für ihr Buch „The Lost City“. Da lässt sie der exzentrische Milliardär Daniel Radcliffe (Abigail Fairfax) entführen, weil sie einen antiken Text in ihrem Buch richtig übersetzt hat. Radcliffe will die Krone des Feuers des legendären Königs Kalaman finden, die er auf der „Isla Hundida“ im Atlantik vermutet, und fliegt mit Bullock dorthin. Tatum organisiert den Profi-Retter Brad Pitt (Jack Trainer) und fliegt mit ihm hinterher. Auf der Insel kommt Pitt bei ihrer Befreiung um. Sie irrt mit Tatum durch den Dschungel, von Radcliffe verfolgt, den sie schließlich an die „Quelle der endlosen Tränen“ führen muß, wo sich die Krone als ein Gebilde von roten Muscheln findet. Alle fliehen vor einem Vulkanausbruch, Bullock und Tatum kommen einander näher. Am Ende in USA taucht auch Pitt in Yoga-Position wieder auf.

Was flott als Midlife Abenteuer einer verstörten Denkerin beginnt, sackt mit dem Beginn der Rettungsaktion auf der Insel ins Nichts ab. Ego Trips des Heldenpaares, überbordende Gesprächigkeit, Standard-Aktion und eine völlige Entzauberung selbst des Schatzes lassen einen desinteressiert zurück. Trotz vieler Autoren: niemand hat sich an die Probleme des Scripts herangetraut…

USA. The archaeologist widow and love story author Sandra Bullock (Loretta Sage) tours with her cover model Channing Tatum (Alan) for her book „The Lost City“. Then eccentric billionaire Daniel Radcliffe (Abigail Fairfax) has her kidnapped because she correctly translated an ancient text in her book. Radcliffe wants to find the Crown of Fire of the legendary King Kalaman, which he suspects is on „Isla Hundida“ in the Atlantic, and flies there with Bullock. Tatum organises professional rescuer Brad Pitt (Jack Trainer) and flies with him after them. On the island, Pitt is killed during their rescue. She wanders through the jungle with Tatum, pursued by Radcliffe, whom she must eventually lead to the „Fountain of Endless Tears“, where the crown is found as a structure of red shells. All fleeing a volcanic eruption, Bullock and Tatum grow closer. At the end in USA, Pitt also reappears in a yoga position.

What begins briskly as the midlife adventure of a disturbed thinker sags into nothingness as the rescue mission on the island begins. Ego trips of the hero couple, overflowing talkativeness, standard action and a complete disenchantment even with the treasure leave one disinterested. Despite many writers: no one has dared to tackle the problems of the script….
