Jurassic World: Das gefallene Königreich

Isla Nublar, 120 Meilen westlich Costa Rica, 2018. Das Refugium der Dinosaurier, für den Publikumsverkehr geschlossen, ist von einem Vulkanausbruch bedroht, der für die Echsen das Ende sein kann. Die US-Politik verweigert Hilfe. James Cromwell (Sir Benjamin Lockwood), einer der Väter des Parks, hat eine neue Insel für die Tiere gefunden und beauftragt Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing) mit der Umsiedlung, die sich dafür den Dinoflüsterer Chris Patt (Owen Grady) holt. Doch das Unterfangen wird an Ort und Stelle von den eigenen Leuten Cromwells sabotiert. Geleitet von dessen Manager Rafe Spall (Eli Mills) kommen die Tiere auf das Anwesen Cromwells nach Nordkalifornien. Dort sollen sie versteigert werden. Insbesondere der intelligente Raptor „Blue“ soll gentechnologisch als Waffe in Serie gehen. Als Cromwell das mitbekommt, wird er getötet. Howard und Patt versuchen, die Versteigerung zu verhindern; die Versammlung stiebt angesichts eines freien Raptors auseinander. Am Ende kommen alle Dinosaurier frei. Sie werden sich wieder über die Erde verteilen.

Infantile Pflicht-Fortsetzung der Jurassic-Saga. Obwohl die schauspielerischen Möglichkeiten der Dinos begrenzt sind, werden sie mehr als die der Menschen in Angriff genommen. Zu früh im Film entsteht gähnende Langeweile, weil die abwesende Intelligenz der Story – Gutmenschentum gigantisch – durch nichts kompensiert wird. Die schönste Bildkraft rettet eben allenfalls einen Augenblick.

Isla Nublar, 120 miles west of Costa Rica, 2018. The refuge of the dinosaurs, closed to the public, is threatened by a volcanic eruption that could be the end for the lizards. US politicians refuse to help. James Cromwell (Sir Benjamin Lockwood), one of the fathers of the park, has found a new island for the animals and commissions Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing) to relocate them, bringing in dinosaur whisperer Chris Patt (Owen Grady) for the job. But the venture is sabotaged on the spot by Cromwell’s own people. Led by his manager Rafe Spall (Eli Mills), the animals arrive at Cromwell’s estate in Northern California. There they are to be auctioned off. In particular, the intelligent raptor „Blue“ is to be genetically engineered as a weapon for mass production. When Cromwell finds out about this, he is killed. Howard and Patt try to prevent the auction; the assembly disperses in the face of a free raptor. In the end, all the dinosaurs are freed. They will spread out over the earth again.

Infantile obligatory sequel to the Jurassic saga. Although the acting abilities of the dinos are limited, they are tackled more than those of the humans. Yawning boredom sets in too early in the film because nothing compensates for the absent intelligence of the story – goodness gigantic. The most beautiful visual power can only save a moment at best.
