Das Ungeheuer von London City

London. Der Schauspieler Hans Jörg Felmy (Richard Sand) steht in der Rolle des Frauenmörders Jack the Ripper auf der Bühne des Edgar-Allan-Poe-Theaters in Whitechapel. Fritz Tillmann (Sir George Edwards) ist ein erbitterter Gegner des Stücks. Als Parlamentsmitglied verböte er am liebsten die Aufführung, zumal seine Nichte Marianne Koch (Ann Morlay) Felmy heiraten will. Viel lieber sähe Tillmann Koch an der Seite ihres Jugendfreundes, des Polizeiarztes Dietmar Schönherr (Dr. Morel Greely). London wird von einer Mordserie in Atem gehalten, die Ähnlichkeiten mit den Taten von Jack the Ripper hat. Beim fünften Mord beobachtet ein kleines Mädchen den Täter aus nächster Nähe. Es handelt sich um Schönherr.

Obwohl die Besetzung vielversprechend und der Drehbuchautor Stemmle ist, wirkt das Ganze nur wie ein paar lustlos aneinander geleimte Versatzstücke. Weder bei den Darstellern noch in der Regie des talentierten Linzers Edwin Zbonek lässt sich Engagement orten. Öde.

London. The actor Hans Jörg Felmy (Richard Sand) is on stage at the Edgar Allan Poe Theatre in Whitechapel, playing the role of the serial killer Jack the Ripper. Fritz Tillmann (Sir George Edwards) is a bitter opponent of the play. As a Member of Parliament, he would love nothing more than to ban the performance, especially as his niece Marianne Koch (Ann Morlay) wants to marry Felmy. Tillmann would much rather see Koch at the side of her childhood friend, the police surgeon Dietmar Schönherr (Dr Morel Greely). London is gripped by a series of murders bearing similarities to the crimes of Jack the Ripper. During the fifth murder, a little girl observes the perpetrator at close quarters. It is Schönherr.

Although the cast is promising and the screenwriter is Stemmle, the whole thing feels like nothing more than a few half-hearted set pieces cobbled together. There is no sign of commitment either from the actors or in the direction of the talented Linz-based Edwin Zbonek. Dull.
