Toronto 2009. Die Gynäkologin Julianne Moore (Catherine Stewart) hat zum Geburtstag ihres Mannes Liam Neeson (David Stewart)  eine Überraschungsparty arrangiert, doch der verpasst in New York seinen Flieger und kommt erst danach. Sie argwöhnt, er sei untreu, da er sie zu wenig beachtet. Sie engagiert das Escort-Modell Amanda Seyfried (Chloe Sweeney), damit sie ihr berichte, wie er auf Verführungskünste reagiere. Bald berichtet Seyfried, sie habe Neeson im ‚Café Diplomatico‘ getroffen, bald sei es auch zu Intimitäten gekommen. Erregt, verbringt Moore eine Liebesnacht mit Seyfried. Die will die Beziehung aufrecht erhalten, Moore sie sofort beenden. Sie führt eine Begegnung Seyfrieds mit ihrem Mann herbei und erkennt, daß die beiden einander kaum kennen. Seyfried hat sich inzwischen an Max Thieriot (Michael), den sexuell erwachenden Sohn des Paares in deren Haus herangemacht. Es kommt zu einer Rauferei mit Moore, und Seyfried stürzt tödlich aus dem Fenster. Moore und Neeson sind versöhnt.

Die Schwierigkeiten der Story, schon in der Vorlage „Nathalie“, 2004, R: Anne Fontaine, spürbar, werden in diesem Remake nicht behoben. Den Franzosen gelang freilich das Abbilden des Innerlichen besser als den Nordamerikanern, doch die haben die besseren Winterbilder von Toronto, das hier es selbst sein darf und nicht als New York Szenerie herhalten muss. Zutiefst bürgerlich, liegt erotischer Thrill ausschließlich im Aussehen von Amanda Seyfried.

Toronto 2009. Gynaecologist Julianne Moore (Catherine Stewart) has arranged a surprise party for the birthday of her husband Liam Neeson (David Stewart), but he misses his plane in New York and only comes afterwards. She suspects he is unfaithful because he pays too little attention to her. She hires the escort model Amanda Seyfried (Chloe Sweeney) to tell her how he reacts to seduction. Seyfried soon reports that she met Neeson in the ‚Café Diplomatico‘, and soon intimacies were also established. Aroused, Moore spends a night of love with Seyfried. Seyfried wants to keep the relationship going and Moore wants to end it immediately. She brings about an encounter between Seyfried and her husband and realises that the two hardly know each other. In the meantime Seyfried has approached Max Thieriot (Michael), the couple’s sexually awakening son in their house. There is a scuffle with Moore, and Seyfried falls from the window to her death. Moore and Neeson are reconciled.

The difficulties of the story, already noticeable in the original „Nathalie“, 2004, R: Anne Fontaine, are not resolved in this remake. The French, of course, were better at portraying the inner life than the North Americans, but they have the better winter pictures of Toronto, which is allowed to be itself here and does not have to serve as a New York scenery. Deeply bourgeois, erotic thrill lies exclusively in the appearance of Amanda Seyfried.
