Küsse, Kugeln und Kanaillen

Paris 1955. Olivier Hussenot (Michel Gérard), nach einer Strafe aus der Haft entlassen, die er für seine Frau Cosetta Greco (Alice Gérard) abgesessen hat, stellt fest, dass sich Greco von Männern aushalten lässt. Hussenot will nach Marseilles, aber Greco wird erdrosselt aufgefunden und Reporter Eddie Constantine (Barney Morgan), der mit Grecos letztem Verhältnis Paul Frankeur als erster am Tatort war, sorgt für Hussenots Verhaftung. Frankeur ist Chefredakteur der „Nouvelles de Paris“ und findet heraus, dass der wahre Täter Robert Lombard (Oliviers de Villeterre), der Sohn des Verlegers der „Nouvelles“ ist. Der, ein alter Aristokrat, ködert Frankeur damit, ihm die Zeitung zu schenken, während Constantine nach einem Todesurteil für Hussenot von dessen Anwältin Bella Darvi (Marianne Colas) überzeugt wird, dass Hussenot unschuldig ist. Frankeur wendet sich gegen seinen Freund Constantine. Der wird von der Polizei in einem Krankenhaus festgesetzt, entflieht, findet die Wahrheit heraus. Er erzwingt den Druck eines Extrablattes der „Nouvelles“, das sie verkündet.

Dieser Kriminalfilm rückt nicht Constantine in den Mittelpunkt, sondern den Kampf um das Leben eines Unschuldigen gegen die Interessen einer etablierten Oligarchie. In der Handlungsführung geschickt, ist er humorvoll, ohne albern zu sein, hart und spannend.

Paris 1955: Olivier Hussenot (Michel Gérard), released from prison after serving a sentence for his wife Cosetta Greco (Alice Gérard), realises that Greco lets himself be kept by men. Hussenot wants to go to Marseilles, but Greco is found strangled to death and reporter Eddie Constantine (Barney Morgan), who was first on the scene with Greco’s last relationship Paul Frankeur, arranges for Hussenot’s arrest. Frankeur is editor-in-chief of the ‘Nouvelles de Paris’ and discovers that the real culprit is Robert Lombard (Oliviers de Villeterre), the son of the publisher of the ‘Nouvelles’. Lombard, an old aristocrat, lures Frankeur into giving him the newspaper, while Constantine is convinced by Hussenot’s lawyer Bella Darvi (Marianne Colas) that Hussenot is innocent. Frankeur turns against his friend Constantine. He is arrested by the police in a hospital, escapes and finds out the truth. He forces the printing of a special edition of the ‘Nouvelles’, which announces it.

This crime film does not focus on Constantine, but on the fight for the life of an innocent man against the interests of an established oligarchy. Skilfully plotted, it is humorous without being silly, tough and exciting.
