Profi-Killer Charles Bronson (Arthur Bishop) vom Mulholland Drive, aus Beverly Hills, holt sich gegen den Protest seiner Auftraggeber Keenan Wynn (Harry McKenna), Sohn eines Opfers, als Nachfolger. Bei einem gemeinsamen Job in Neapel merkt Bronson, daß Wynn in Wahrheit für die Polizei arbeitet und ihn auf der Liste hat. Wynn tötet Bronson mit Gift, wird aber Opfer einer von Bronson vorgeplanten Explosion, als er sich, zurück in USA, dessen Wagen aneignen will.

Charles Bronson, entlarvt. Anders als bei Alain Delon („Der eiskalte Engel“), ist das starr-vulgäre Gesicht Bronsons kein Einstieg in eine verquere Seelenwelt, sondern Platzhalter für eine Handlung, die langsam und sparsam in Gang kommt, aber peinlich bemüht ist, die Oberfläche nie zu verlassen. Es fehlen nicht nur die Emotionen, sondern auch der ganze Rest. Langweilig.

Professional hitman Charles Bronson (Arthur Bishop) from Mulholland Drive in Beverly Hills takes on Keenan Wynn (Harry McKenna), the son of one of his victims, as his successor, despite his client’s protests. During a joint job in Naples, Bronson realises that Wynn is actually working for the police and has him on his list. Wynn kills Bronson with poison, but falls victim to an explosion Bronson had planned in advance when, back in the US, he tries to steal Bronson’s car.

Charles Bronson, unmasked. Unlike with Alain Delon (‘Le Samouraï’), Bronson’s rigidly vulgar face is not a gateway to a twisted inner world, but a placeholder for a plot that gets underway slowly and sparingly, yet is painfully eager never to stray from the surface. Not only are the emotions missing, but everything else too. Boring.
