Im Dienste des Königs

Denbigh, Wales, 1795. Louis Jourdan (Herzog de Beauvais) hat den jungen französischen Thronfolger Richard O’Sullivan (Louis XVII) in einem republikanischen Gefängnis in Paris gegen seinen eigenen Sohn ausgetauscht und ihn mit dem Ballon nach England gebracht. Die Amerikanerin Belinda Lee (Virginia Traill) nimmt ihn ins Schloß ihrer Tante Martita Hunt (Lady Fell). Jourdan will O’Sullivan gegen seinen Willen nach Frankreich bringen, aber der Plan wird unmöglich, als nicht nur Revolutionäre, sondern auch die königliche Familie Frankreichs ihm nachstellen, damit er nicht ihren Thronanspruch gefährde.

Gut ausgestattete Abenteuergeschichte ohne Sympathien für die französische Revolution. Leider sind Dialoge und die Figuren hölzern.

Denbigh, Wales, 1795. Louis Jourdan (Duke de Beauvais) has exchanged the young French heir to the throne Richard O’Sullivan (Louis XVII) for his own son in a republican prison in Paris and brought him to England by balloon. The American Belinda Lee (Virginia Traill) takes him to the castle of her aunt Martita Hunt (Lady Fell). Jourdan wants to take O’Sullivan to France against his will, but the plan becomes impossible when not only revolutionaries but also the royal family of France chase him lest he endanger their claim to the throne.

Well plotted adventure story with no sympathy for the French Revolution. Unfortunately, dialogue and characters are wooden.
