Ihr erstes Rendez-vous

Paris, Juni 1941. Die junge Danielle Darrieux (Michèle Chevassu) lebt im Waisenhaus und schreibt heimlich auf Inserate. So verabredet sie sich einmal im Café „Au moulin joli“ mit einem Korrespondenten. Es erscheint der angegraute Literaturprofessor des renommierten „Collège Napoleon“, Fernand Ledoux (Nicolas Rougemont). Der behauptet, vom – jungen – Autor der Briefe gesandt worden zu sein, seinem Neffen Louis Jordan (Pierre Mortemar).  Darrieux, die Angst hat, aus dem Waisenhaus in eine Besserungsanstalt zu kommen, folgt Ledoux, der sie in seinen Räumlichkeiten in dem Männern vorbehaltenen Collège versteckt. Darrieux schafft es, Ledoux bei seinen Schülern Respekt zu verschaffen und diese helfen ihr mit Geld, ihre Zukunft zu sichern.  Als Jordan, der von alledem nichts weiß, auftaucht, zündet es zwischen ihm und Darrieux.

Eine Komödie, weniger eine Liebeskomödie. Sie spielt Etliches mit großer Ausführlichkeit aus; die Handlung ist wenig real oder glaubwürdig. Danielle Darrieux ist zu alt für ihre Rolle und mutiert sehr schnell vom schüchternsten Waisenmädchen zur Frau der harten Ansagen. Nicht sehr französisch, schließlich eine verdeckte Arbeit (für die deutsch finanzierte Produktionsfirma Continental) des jüdischen Autors Colpe auf einem Fluchtaufenthalt in Frankreich. In Deutschland gelaufen, aber nicht besonders propagiert.

Paris, June 1941. Young Danielle Darrieux (Michèle Chevassu) lives in an orphanage and secretly writes on advertisements. So she once arranged to meet a correspondent in the café „Au moulin joli“. Fernand Ledoux (Nicolas Rougemont), a greying professor of literature at the renowned „Collège Napoleon“, appears. He claims to have been sent by the – young – author of the letters, his nephew Louis Jordan (Pierre Mortemar).  Darrieux, afraid of being sent from the orphanage to a reformatory, follows Ledoux, who hides her in his premises in the male-only collège. Darrieux manages to gain Ledoux’s respect among his students and they help her with money to secure her future.  When Jordan, who knows nothing of all this, shows up, things ignite between him and Darrieux.

A comedy, not so much a romantic comedy. It plays out several things with great detail; the plot is not very real or believable. Danielle Darrieux is too old for her role and mutates very quickly from the shyest orphan girl to the woman of tough announcements. Not very French, finally an undercover work (for the German-financed production company Continental) by the Jewish author Colpe on a getaway in France. Ran in Germany, but not particularly propagated.
