Herrin der Welt

1. Teil, 95 Minuten Stockholm. Geheimdienstler Carlos Thompson (Peter Lundström) observiert Sabu (Dr. Lin-Chor), den aus Kambodscha zurückgekehrten Assistenten des Energieforschers Gino Cervi (Professor Johanson). Nach einer grossen Explosion, die den Durchbruch zu einer neuen Energieformel signalisiert, wird Cervi, der diese Formel nur im Kopf, aber nicht aufgeschrieben hat, von der geheimnisvollen Micheline Presle (Madame Latour) entführt. Thompson folgt ihr mit Cervis Tochter Martha Hyer (Karin Johanson) über Nizza, Marseilles, Neapel. Sabu entkommt mit der niedergeschriebenen Formel nach Angkor Vat.

2. Teil, 85 Minuten Micheline Presle entführt Cervis Tochter Martha Hyer, aber Cervi stirbt. Presles Komplize Wolfgang Preiss (Henrik Brandes) tötet Presle, wird aber selbst von Sabu getötet. Thompson hat Hyer befreit. Die Verfolger töten einen Mönch. Inkijinoff, der Abt des Klosters, verdächtigt Thompson der Tat. Thompson wird von Sabu befreit. Sabu stirbt und die verhängnisvolle Energieformel wird von Hyer verbrannt.

Die Geschichte ist banal und zerdehnt. Die Produktion hat alles vermieden, was wirklich Geld gekostet hätte.. Die Inszenierung hält sich interessant zurück und die Farbkamera liefert erlesene und phantasievolle Bilder.

Part 1, 95 minutes Stockholm. Secret service agent Carlos Thompson (Peter Lundström) observes Sabu (Dr Lin-Chor), the assistant of energy researcher Gino Cervi (Professor Johanson) who has returned from Cambodia. After a big explosion that signals a breakthrough to a new energy formula, Cervi, who only has the formula in his head but not written down, is kidnapped by the mysterious Micheline Presle (Madame Latour). Thompson follows her with Cervi’s daughter Martha Hyer (Karin Johanson) via Nice, Marseilles, Naples. Sabu escapes to Angkor Vat with the formula written down.

Part 2, 85 minutes Micheline Presle kidnaps Cervi’s daughter Martha Hyer, but Cervi dies. Presle’s accomplice Wolfgang Preiss (Henrik Brandes) kills Presle, but is himself killed by Sabu. Thompson has freed Hyer. The pursuers kill a monk. Inkijinoff, the abbot of the monastery, suspects Thompson of the crime. Thompson is freed by Sabu. Sabu dies and the fateful energy formula is burnt by Hyer.

The story is trite and stretched. The production avoided anything that would have really cost money…. The staging holds back interestingly and the colour camera delivers exquisite and imaginative images.
