Jackie Gleason (Gigot) is mute and badly treated. He takes in the prostitute Katherin Kath (Colette) with her child. Kath believes he is kidnapping her child and sets people on him. Seemingly, he drowns in the Seine. But he attends his own funeral service, is recognised and hunted down further….

A Jackie Gleason Show – he wrote the story, composed the music, obviously modelled on Chaplin. But some pretty details don’t make a good film.
