Bornemouth, England.

Mit Cathleen Nesbitt (Lady Matheson), Felix Aylmer (Mr. Fowler), Rod Taylor (Charles), May Hallatt (Miss Meachum).

Lied: „Separate Tables“ von Harry Warren, Harold Abrams

Bornemouth, England. Among the guests at the Beauregard Hotel, David Niven (Major David Pollack) becomes a bone of contention because, according to a newspaper report, he molested a woman in a dark cinema. Nor is he a major. Drunkard Burt Lancaster (John Malcolm) loves Wendy Hiller (Pat Cooper), the owner of the hotel. He is surprised by the arrival of his ex-wife Rita Hayworth (Ann Shankland), who torments him but whom he still loves. Niven, contrary to his intention, does not leave after all. Shy Deborah Kerr (Sybil Railton-Bell), who loves him, talks back to her bigoted and domineering mother Gladys Cooper (Mrs. Railton Bell) and maybe Lancaster and Hiller will get together after all.

From the „Grand Hotel“ drawer, in which everyone has to demonstratively show off a bent character. Here combined with the stuffiness of the 60s. First-rate cast; however, there is a layer of dust on the production.
