Gefährliche Mission

London. Anstelle eines Urlaubs in Schottland übernimmt Basil Rathbone (Sherlock Holmes) den Schutz von Leslie Vincent (Nikolas Stevens), des Sohnes eines ermordeten Wissenschaftlers mit Zugang zu Heilmitteln für exotische Krankheiten, auf der Reise nach Algier. Das dazu bestimmte Flugzeug wird abgeschossen, aber Rathbone fährt heimlich mit Nigel Bruce (Dr. Watson) auf der S.S. Friesland und liefert Vincent heil ab.

Drittklassiger Film der Sherlock Holmes-Serie mit Rathbone. Im Original handelt es sich nicht um den Sohn eines Wissenschaftlers, sondern um einen jungen König auf der Flucht vor Attentätern – ideologisch wohl für die DDR-Synchronisation nicht erträglich.

Instead of a holiday in Scotland, Basil Rathbone (Sherlock Holmes) takes over the protection of Leslie Vincent (Nikolas Stevens), the son of a murdered scientist with access to cures for exotic diseases, on the journey to Algiers. The plane destined for the mission is shot down, but Rathbone secretly rides with Nigel Bruce (Dr. Watson) on the S.S. Friesland and delivers Vincent in one piece.

Third-rate film in the Sherlock Holmes series with Rathbone. The original is not about the son of a scientist, but about a young king on the run from assassins – probably ideologically intolerable for the GDR dubbing.
