New York.

New York. The young Johnny Depp (Don Juan DeMarco) seduces a woman in the New York Sevilla Hotel and then wants to jump off the roof because after 1500 women he does not get his beloved Geraldine Pailhas (Dona Ana). He tells the psychiatrist Marlon Brando (Jack Mickler), who prevents him from committing suicide and who first pretends to be „Don Octavio del Flores“, how he experienced his family’s jealousy dramas in Mexico, how he was enslaved in a harem in Arabia (hence the high number of women) to secretly make the Sultan’s wife happy, and how he then met Pailhas on an island that was repelled by the high number. Brando, who learns that Depp is really from Phoenix, Arizona and that Pailhas is really a Playgirl of the Month who doesn’t want to know anything about Depp, is drawn into his dream world and enjoys it. He refuses to give Depp medication. Depp behaves in a reasonable manner towards the judge. He is allowed to leave the institution. He, Brando and his wife Faye Dunaway (Marylin Mickler) go to the island where Depp finds Pailhas again.

The psychoanalyst Leven wrote the script and directed the film: he knows that it is not crazy to create a beautiful world in one’s mind, he demonstrates its attractiveness in this example – it is healing, not illness. Ingeniously, the book always gives clues to the spiritual parity of the „lunatic“. Depp, who one would not have expected for such a role, is good, as are Brando and Dunaway. A homage to Zorro…
