New York. Michael J. Fox (Brantley Foster) aus Kansas beginnt einen Job in der Pemrose Corporation, die sein Onkel Richard Jordan (Howard Prescott) führt. Er gefällt Jordans Frau Margaret Whitton (Vera Prescott), aber Fox interessiert sich mehr für Helen Slater (Christy Wills), Managerin und Freundin Jordans. Fox legt sich einen neuen Namen zu und stiftet so Verwirrung. Als Fred Gwynne (Donald Davenport) eine feindliche Übernahme von Pemrose plant, hält Jordan Fox für einen Agenten Gwynns und setzt Slater auf ihn an. Fox und Slater verhindern die Übernahme, Jordan wird entlassen, und Whitton kontrolliert das Unternehmen. Fox steigt auf.

New York. Michael J. Fox (Brantley Foster) from Kansas starts a job at the Pemrose Corporation run by his uncle Richard Jordan (Howard Prescott). He takes a liking to Jordan’s wife Margaret Whitton (Vera Prescott), but Fox is more interested in Helen Slater (Christy Wills), Jordan’s manager and girlfriend. Fox adopts a new name, causing confusion. When Fred Gwynne (Donald Davenport) plans a hostile takeover of Pemrose, Jordan mistakes Fox for an agent of Gwynne and sets Slater on him. Fox and Slater prevent the takeover, Jordan is fired, and Whitton controls the company. Fox rises to the top.
