Abschied. Ernstes und Heiteres aus einer Familienpension

Berlin, 30.09.1930. Aribert Mog (Peter Winkler) wohnt in der Pension `Splendide‘ der geschwätzigen Wirtin Emilie Unda (Frau Weber). Mog ist mit Brigitte Horney (Hella) befreundet, die gerade neue Kleidung gekauft hat, noch einen Hut bezahlen muss, jetzt Mog besucht und durch Dritte erfährt, dass der nach Dresden reisen will, um dort eine Stelle anzunehmen. Er ist mißtrauisch, weil sie vor dem geplanten Ausgehen noch nach Hause will und nicht sagt, warum. Einen Zettel mit dem Namen des Hutlieferanten hält er für den Beweis für einen Rivalen. Deshalb reist er Hals über Kopf ab, noch bevor sie zurückkommt. Der Hausdiener Konstantin Mic (Bogdanoff) will sie mit einem Ring trösten, den er aus Mogs Zimmer entwendet hat – aber es ist der Ring, den sie Mog geschenkt hatte….

Im emotionalen Mittelpunkt Brigitte Horney, in ihrem Filmdebut, die als Liebende einer ungefestigten Beziehung deren Zusammenbruch erlebt. Als verbindendes Element in Pension und Handlung: Erwin Bootz am Klavier, ein Mitglied der ‚Comedian Harmonists‘, der sich selbst spielt. Erster Professionell gedrehter Film Siodmaks, der mit kleinem Aufwand große Wirkung macht.

Berlin, 30.09.1930. Aribert Mog (Peter Winkler) is staying at the “Splendide” boarding house run by the garrulous landlady Emilie Unda (Frau Weber). Mog is friends with Brigitte Horney (Hella), who has just bought new clothes, still has to pay for a hat, is now visiting Mog and learns through a third party that he wants to travel to Dresden to take up a job there. He is suspicious because she wants to go home before the planned night out and won’t say why. He thinks a note with the name of the hat supplier is proof of a rival. He therefore leaves head over heels before she returns. The house servant Konstantin Mic (Bogdanoff) tries to comfort her with a ring he has stolen from Mog’s room – but it is the ring she gave Mog….

In her film debut, Brigitte Horney takes centre stage emotionally as the lover of an unstable relationship that experiences its collapse. The connecting element in the boarding house and the plot: Erwin Bootz on the piano, a member of the “Comedian Harmonists”, who plays himself. Siodmak’s first professionally shot film, which makes a big impact with little effort.
