New York. Elisabeth Taylor (Gloria Wandraus), Edelhure, erwacht in der Wohnung des durch Heirat reich gewordenen Geschäftsmannes Laurence Harvey (Weston Liggett). Er ist fort und sie erregt sich, daß er ihr Geld hingelegt hatte, was sie von den Männern nie nimmt. Die beiden spinnen ihre Bekanntschaft fort. Taylor stellt erstaunt fest, daß sie verliebt ist. Doch in einem letzten Mißverständnis flieht Taylor von ihm und rast mit ihrem Wagen aus der Stadt. Er folgt ihr und wird Zeuge, wie sie in eine Baustelle fährt und stirbt. .

Der Film hat ein Glaubwürdigkeitsproblem. Um allen Männern den Kopf zu verdrehen, ist Taylor schon zu sehr Matrone. Sie wollte die Rolle auch nicht spielen. Zudem ist die Tragik des Lebens der Heldin, daß sie mit 13 von einem alten Major verführt wurde und Spaß daran hatte, eine bigotte Lächerlichkeit. Aber am schlimmsten: keine der Figuren ist interessant..

New York. Elisabeth Taylor (Gloria Wandraus), a high-class prostitute, wakes up in the flat of Laurence Harvey (Weston Liggett), a businessman who has come into wealth through marriage. He has gone, and she is upset that he had left her money, which she never accepts from men. The two continue to get to know one another. Taylor realises, to her surprise, that she is in love. But following a final misunderstanding, Taylor flees from him and races out of the city in her car. He follows her and witnesses her driving into a building site and dying.

The film has a credibility problem. For a woman who turns all men’s heads, Taylor is already too much of a matron. She didn’t want to play the part either. Moreover, the tragedy of the heroine’s life – that she was seduced by an old major at the age of 13 and enjoyed it – is a hypocritical farce. But worst of all: none of the characters are interesting.
